INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 346

Evolution of the Space Marine

October 2008·pp. 31–33

THE SHORT VERSION

Jes Goodwin credits the collaborative origins of RTB01 before explaining how later armour, weapons and chapter heraldry became recognisable. Classical and barbarian influences are mixed rather than copied directly, and the shift to Mk VII changes much more than a helmet. Later multipart kits expand customisation, while vehicles share panels and chamfered shapes. Bob Naismith’s economical original Rhino illustrates how technical constraints can shape an enduring design.
