PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 346

Drybrushing

October 2008·pp. 95–96

THE SHORT VERSION

The brush is worked nearly dry on absorbent paper before repeated strokes deposit a fine dusting on raised features. Skeleton bone, Plaguebearer flesh and green Space Marine armour demonstrate the technique on very different models, while the amount of paint determines the texture. A yellow glaze smooths overly chalky white highlights on an Orc’s green skin without erasing the underlying contrast. Gradual buildup allows several highlight strengths.
