Standard Bearer: Blanchitsu!
October 2008·pp. 84–86
THE SHORT VERSION
On his sixtieth birthday, John Blanche describes renewed enthusiasm for miniature painting and games through his son’s group. He distinguishes quickly painted army models from slower individual conversions, praising plastic kits for their abundant parts and subtle posing possibilities. A limited palette ties his characteristic style together. An imagined smoke-shrouded mass of Ork bikers becomes a real army project, with an experimental flesh recipe aimed at translucent-looking skin.
