MODELLING·WHITE DWARF 344

Twisted Trees

August 2008·p. 96

THE SHORT VERSION

A plastic tree is cut, rotated and rejoined to turn its natural growth into a blasted Mordor silhouette. Bark, slate, gravel and horse-hair thorns extend the effect across an MDF base, with elements angled away from a common imagined source of evil. Black and grey drybrushing unify the materials, while Dheneb Stone picks out ropes. The result shows how modifying a familiar kit can make a distinctly hostile landscape.
