MODELLING·WHITE DWARF 344

Kit-bashing, Converting and Battle Damage

August 2008·p. 82

THE SHORT VERSION

Straightforward component exchanges are distinguished from conversions that require cutting and repositioning. Marauder standards, mutation parts and Ork biker pieces give ordinary troops new identities while preserving a plausible finished miniature. Shallow drilled bullet marks and knife scratches then suggest campaign history. The examples emphasise that a successful conversion should look intentional after painting, whether it uses a single weapon swap or several kits.
