PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 343

Painting Leathers

July 2008·p. 88

THE SHORT VERSION

Dark hide and brown straps share a foundation colour but diverge through black shading and different pale highlights. The hide keeps a subdued surface beneath the armour, while small lighter marks imitate cracks at places the straps bend. Looking at actual belts and jackets helps place the wear convincingly. The sequence maintains the miniature’s dark equipment while preserving enough contrast to separate leather, metal fittings and pale skin.
