Washes
June 2008·pp. 84–85
THE SHORT VERSION
Washes stain raised areas lightly while collecting more strongly in recesses, creating natural-looking shade on textured surfaces. The article explains removing excess liquid and bubbles, testing unfamiliar combinations and choosing surfaces that suit the method. A Mordor Orc demonstrates metal, cloth and flesh, while colour pairings offer starting points for other schemes. Christian Byrne’s Wraithguard shows how a strong Foundation base and a complementary wash can prepare later layers.
