’Eavy Metal Masterclass: Skulltaker
June 2008·pp. 94–99
THE SHORT VERSION
Joe Tomaszewski paints Skulltaker’s head separately to reach the surrounding detail, building red flesh through many thin layers. Shiny black leather and a non-metallic brass symbol distinguish the cloak from the model’s true metallic armour. Grey-based skulls add age and contrast, while an obsidian sword and reversed light-to-dark flame sequence finish the focal details. The masterclass combines careful material separation with the strong red, black and brass identity of Khorne.
