Painting the Cloak

June 2008·p. 96

THE SHORT VERSION

The cloak’s leather begins as dark grey with black recesses, then gains narrow lighter lines that imply a glossy surface. Its enormous Khorne symbol uses brown and white rather than metallic paint, making the decoration read as part of the fabric while still suggesting brass. Strongly defined edges and a final bright line supply the illusion of reflection. Restrained leather highlights keep that symbol the dominant feature.
