Painting the Metals and Black Armour

May 2008·p. 93

THE SHORT VERSION

Darkened steel develops through increasingly bright metallic layers, with a red-black wash tinting the blades near their hilts. The chainmail repeats the same colours by light drybrushing. Gold combines dark recesses, restrained silver highlights and brown glazes to soften the transitions. Black armour takes bone-tinted edges and a green glaze, keeping the plates distinct from the brighter trim without losing their sombre appearance.
