Painting the Cloak and Leather

May 2008·p. 96

THE SHORT VERSION

Purple cloth and pale blue spirits are shaded together before separating into their own highlight sequences. Weathering at the cloth’s edges keeps the bright colours from appearing pristine, while blue glazing smooths the ghosts. Red leather, dark bats and a worn tome add smaller material contrasts, and the weapon shaft develops from blackened yellow-brown into a pale edge. The Nightmare’s caparison repeats the cloak colours to unite rider and mount.
