PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 340

Basing Your Models

April 2008·p. 89

THE SHORT VERSION

PVA-fixed sand provides a common starting texture for all three example units. Space Marines and Corsairs use a painted brown base with pale drybrushing and earth-coloured rims, while Skeletons use an ink-covered surface before the same highlight. Different amounts of grass change the setting suggested by each base. Applying sand before undercoating is offered as an alternative, sealing it under primer but requiring a painted rather than ink-coloured foundation.
