Eltharion: Painting the White and Blue

January 2008·p. 96

THE SHORT VERSION

Foundation grey establishes the white areas before blue-grey shading and repeated thin white coats create a crisp finish. Blue sections develop from a deep base through brighter mixtures to very pale edges. The guide recommends checking the model after it dries and adding more dilute white where needed, rather than stopping at a predetermined number of coats. A gemstone sequence supplies contrasting red jewels and a precise reflected-light point.
