Griffon: Painting the Fur
January 2008·p. 93
THE SHORT VERSION
Reference photographs help Anja distinguish a leopard’s broken curved markings from simple dots. The pale underside and warmer orange haunches develop through different highlight mixtures, with washes and glazes muting the finish before the final accents. Joe Tomaszewski’s alternatives show how the same anatomy can become a lion, tiger, snow leopard or pale Chracian beast. Natural patterns provide a strong identity without changing the underlying miniature.
