’Eavy Metal Masterclass: High Elf Prince
November 2007·pp. 94–99
THE SHORT VERSION
Neil Green develops a mounted Prince through five clearly mapped stages, keeping the rider and steed separate until the painting is complete. Blue-shadowed whites, polished silver and bright gold establish the characteristic High Elf finish, while the dark horse and red gems provide contrast. Thin translucent layers produce the highlights before fine edges, eyes and reflected-light points finish the details. A separately illustrated stone base gives the character a suitably elaborate setting.
