Citadel Toolbox: Basing Your Miniatures

September 2007·p. 73

THE SHORT VERSION

Equal amounts of sand, PVA and water become a textured basing mixture when a little paint is added. Applying it directly gives an army a consistent surface with fewer separate stages, after which flock, grass or snow can establish the intended environment. A practical tip raises metal models slightly above their bases so the mixture can pass beneath their feet, making them appear to stand on the ground rather than sink into it.
