Standard Bearer: Painting as a Hobby in Its Own Right
July 2007·pp. 86–88
THE SHORT VERSION
Foundation Paints prompt Jervis and his colleagues to reflect on painting as a central pleasure of the hobby. Miniature collecting predates the games, and a finished figure can reward its maker whether or not it ever reaches a battlefield. Better instruction should build confidence without reducing painting to a mechanical exercise, encouraging practice, experiment and respect for the craft as well as the spectacle it brings to play.
