Lysander: Painting Yellow over Black

May 2006·p. 104

THE SHORT VERSION

Ben uses Lysander to investigate an unfamiliar yellow, beginning over a black foundation with a little brown mixed into the first layer. Numerous thin yellow coats build solid coverage rather than relying on one heavy application, then bone lightens the final highlights. A thinned yellow ink finish moderates the result, illustrating the patience and repeated controlled layers behind the apparently simple bright armour.
