Aun’Va, Master of the Undying Spirit
May 2006·p. 68
THE SHORT VERSION
Fil Dunn uses Aun’Va’s age and complex freehand markings as opportunities for character painting. The bronze begins from brass, is highlighted with a silver–brass mixture and receives a very thin purple ink wash. The accompanying commentary explains that the white areas were built patiently over a dark undercoat, and that repainting the surrounding foundation tidies the intricate symbols after they have been drawn.
