MODELLING·WHITE DWARF 309

Modelling Cairns

September 2005·pp. 62–63

THE SHORT VERSION

Foamboard ovals covered with mixed gravel and sand become quick burial cairns, varied with markers, open graves and exposed Skeletons. A larger two-layer polystyrene hill forms a barrow with a slate doorway and crawling corpse, while standing stones and skeletal totems add visual variety. The ground is painted fully before flocking so wear reveals natural earth rather than bare black undercoat.
