Devastated Copse
April 2005·p. 125
THE SHORT VERSION
Putty roots and partially cut, hand-broken dowels create tree stumps with recognisably splintered tops. Painting the copse normally before adding black scorch marks keeps the remaining landscape convincing, and stippled grey and white create ash deposits that make the destruction readable without covering the whole base in a single colour.
