Farmer Maggot: Scythe and Smock

March 2005·p. 34

THE SHORT VERSION

Thin lines of increasingly light brown suggest grain along Maggot’s wooden scythe handle. His smock instead uses broad earth and khaki layers with a final pale edge, leaving the darkest colour visible in folds; the two recipes establish the practical, weathered appearance of a working farmer.
