Hard as Stone
December 2004·pp. 90–103
THE SHORT VERSION
Gav Thorpe interweaves Snorri Whitebeard’s friendship with Malekith and a later Dwarf expedition led by King Throndin Stoneheart. Bound by a promise to a human baron and by grief for a murdered son, Throndin marches towards greenskin enemies while repeatedly dismissing the warnings of a shabby old traveller.
The human alliance collapses when the battle becomes desperate, leaving Throndin and his younger son exposed. Grombrindal’s intervention connects that betrayal to the older, broken friendship, presenting the White Dwarf as an enduring guardian whose duties continue beyond the life of any king.
