Painting the Board: Beach and Sea
December 2004·p. 161
THE SHORT VERSION
Successive brown and bone drybrushes build the beach, with small green patches breaking up the sand and helping the dunes meet the surrounding grassland. The sea moves from dark green through Scaly Green to blue shallows, then gains white wave crests and a gloss finish to distinguish water from the matte shore.
