Painting the Manflayers

October 2004·p. 52

THE SHORT VERSION

Neil Green’s palette contrasts restrained black armour and purple cloth with several kinds of flesh. Grey highlights define the armour, while warm flesh tones distinguish the living Dark Elves. Their grisly cloaks instead begin with a muddy green-brown mixture, lightened with bone and finally washed green. The short guide gives a coherent way to reproduce the studio regiment’s unsettling appearance.
