PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 293

Advanced Basing

May 2004·p. 59

THE SHORT VERSION

A compact tutorial shows how a textured base gains depth through successive brown and pale drybrushing stages. Sand or gravel provides a stronger surface texture than flock alone, allowing the raised areas to catch lighter paint. The finished example accompanies a basic demonstration of applying basing material. It offers a repeatable way to give a whole army consistent ground beneath its models.
