The Flesh Is Weak
February 2004·pp. 122–123
THE SHORT VERSION
Pete Haines follows Iron Hand Gaumech through surgery and memories of the battle that destroyed much of his body. His Chapter’s contempt for weakness extends to terrified human allies, while his own endurance cannot prevent catastrophic wounds in a cultist-held foundry. After receiving bionic replacements, Gaumech regards the loss as a blessing and a step towards Ferrus Manus. The story exposes the harsh beliefs underlying the Chapter’s pursuit of mechanical perfection.
