BATTLE REPORT·WHITE DWARF 287

The Battle of Anroc Pass

November 2003·pp. 76–95

THE SHORT VERSION

Rob Lane’s High Elves defend a small Ulthuan settlement against John Dale’s Dark Elves in a pitched battle that tests the revised army rules. Both players bring balanced, story-led forces and plans based on supporting infantry with shooting and mobile units. An early High Elf miscast and persistent Chill Wind disrupt Rob’s firepower, while character-mounted Cold One Chariots create threats his battle line struggles to contain.

Bait, fleeing units and flank attacks decide the later turns as the Dark Elves keep the defenders reacting. High Elf archers kill both chariot riders, but one surviving chariot still helps destroy the central regiment and secure the raiders’ victory. The players’ reflections credit positioning and target priorities as well as the update, with particular attention to how the new options let a wider range of Dark Elf units contribute.
