Bloodlands: Part Three
October 2003·pp. 44–47
THE SHORT VERSION
Dylan Owen adds terrain and naval movement to the map campaign, turning rivers, mountains, forests and swamps into strategic choices. Different peoples have advantages in particular environments, while pillaging, deforestation and regrowth affect both income and access. Fleets depend on suitable settlements and docks, transport armies between regions and contest patrol zones through a simple combat system. The option of resolving encounters with Man O’War offers a more detailed alternative to those campaign-level naval rules.
