Basic Training: The Shooting Phase
July 2025·pp. 52–55
THE SHORT VERSION
Matt explains how shooting order, range and timing turn ranged attacks into more than a source of damage. Short-ranged or restricted units should act before flexible ones, cover and command modifiers must be judged separately, and shooting into a fight can free a valuable unit for a new charge. Covering Fire, target-marking buffs and movement or wound debuffs create opportunities in the opponent’s turn, while excessive casualties can unexpectedly lengthen a planned charge. The article ends with a Freeguild objective puzzle against Skaven.
