Destroyed non-character units may return to Strategic Reserves, and damaged units can spend an action calling for replacements. Bombardment punishes exposed ground, pressing forces toward deployment zones and objectives. Scoring pays more for markers cleared of nearby enemies, creating a meat-grinder battle in which repeatedly contesting a location matters more than simply eliminating an army.
