Sam Pearson treats battle tactics as a central part of list building and deployment rather than an afterthought. Worked examples show fast units taking flanks, counter-charges denying central control, reserves providing a hidden scoring option and restraint preserving a late-game kill. Grand Alliance tactics also require attention: surrendering a lower-value objective can be worthwhile if a redeploy denies the opponent four tactic points.
