A Tale of Four Warlords: Challenge Two
April 2023·pp. 10–21
THE SHORT VERSION
The studio selection process moves from a single test miniature to a complete chosen unit, asking prospective warlords to demonstrate how their ideas scale. Judges consider painting, conversions and background, with plans ranging from mechanised mixed-regiment infantry to a new Fyreslayer lodge. Contributor recipes expose the practical methods behind the photographed entries.
Weathered Custodes, a converted gliding Terrorgheist, varied squigs and bespoke Infiltrator equipment offer very different collection directions. Other entrants use cold colours, distinctive realm backgrounds or strong spot colours to distinguish established factions. The contrast between coherent repeated schemes and elaborate centrepieces becomes part of deciding which projects can sustain an army.
