Brush Tips: Angron, the Red Angel

April 2023·pp. 104–107

THE SHORT VERSION

Martin Peterson describes the references and colour decisions behind the studio Angron. Red skin echoes World Eaters armour but shifts from bruised extremities to a fiery face, using very deep shadows and harsh vein highlights. Bronze plate and distinct brass trim preserve the history of the Armour of Mars beneath accumulated blood, oil and dirt.

Cool verdigris, teal wing highlights and leather details balance the warm skin and metals. The weapons support the character without taking attention from him: the chainaxe remains weathered and practical, while fiery skulls give the daemon sword a restrained secondary focus. Detailed colour lists accompany the discussion of each surface.
