SHOWCASE·WHITE DWARF 476

Paragon Warsuits

May 2022·p. 30

THE SHORT VERSION

Transparent red over metal gives Paragon armour a rich finish, with carefully chosen bases connecting the suits to a campaign of religious warfare. Related golden armour uses thinned Contrast shading, showing how strong metallic foundations can support several distinct yet equally ornate devotional schemes.

Conversion Corner: Dark Mechanicum Tech-Priest

Alvin Wong joins a Canoptek Spyder to a Tech-Priest Manipulus, creating a Nurgle-devoted heretek with an unsettling mechanical mount. Spawn heads and a Plaguebearer-skull servitor spread the corruption across the model, making its allegiance apparent beyond the central figure.

Painting Question: Cult of the Writhing Shadow

The studio explains a Neophyte’s sinister palette through recipes for clothing, armour, skin and equipment. Carefully mixed shading uses ordinary opaque paints as well as washes, while bright final details stop the predominantly dark cultist from becoming an indistinct figure.
