THE SHORT VERSION

The editor celebrates the Tome Keepers’ arrival as a fully realised Chapter, with an Index Astartes, Johan Grenier’s artwork and a growing miniature collection. Echoes from the Warp: Abstraction and Realism

Stu Black separates the purpose of enjoying a game from the immediate objective of winning its mission. Deep strike distances, wound allocation, psychic mishaps and Overwatch illustrate how abstract mechanisms can preserve speed, balance and meaningful decisions even when a more literal simulation might appear plausible.

The Hobby Pillars

The editorial uses modelling, painting, gaming and reading as the four pillars that support the hobby. It introduces the issue through concrete examples of each, from converted Knights and Battlemages to Speed Freek painting, a vehicle-heavy battle and the concluding instalment of the Chronicles of Bain.

Paragons of Honour

The editors introduce an issue devoted to Imperial and Chaos Knights and the new Iron Warriors releases, including the redesigned Defiler. They also explain the decision to publish Jamie Farquhar’s Iron Warriors collection as a tribute following his death in 2024: his conversions had already appeared throughout the magazine’s Arks of Omen storyline, but his whole army had never received its own feature.
