The creation of a Space Marine is explained through gene-seed, surgical implantation and the nineteen traditional organs, from the secondary heart to the black carapace. Their interdependence, conditioning and gradual deterioration between Chapters make recruitment both a biological process and an increasingly ritualised inheritance.
The Primaris additions are placed within the implantation schedule: sinew coils enhance strength, the Magnificat stimulates growth and the Belisarian Furnace provides emergency regeneration. The concluding account of progenoid recovery explains why a Chapter’s future depends on preserving its unique stock of gene-seed.
