INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 420

Creating Legends

July 2017·pp. 28–35

THE SHORT VERSION

Seven Citadel sculptors explain how character, silhouette and a convincing sense of motion become plastic miniatures. Their examples trace collaboration from concepts and rough models to production engineering, using Primaris Marines, Skitarii, the Riptide and small familiars to show the different problems each project poses. Personal accounts by Darren Latham, Tom Walton, Seb Perbet, Sergi Torras, Aly Morrison, Christian Hardy and Gaku Matsubayashi describe routes into the studio and the skills they brought with them. Recurring themes include preserving recognisable identities, choosing details that tell a story and making a kit rewarding to assemble.
