The magazine’s figurehead develops from Chris Beaumont’s archetypal roleplaying Dwarf into the named warrior-king whose saga Nigel Stillman established. Illustrations, anniversary miniatures, unusual subscription costumes and the Total War incarnation show how the White Dwarf changed alongside the hobby while retaining his recognisable white beard.
