Jervis Johnson: Templates and Markers

November 2013·pp. 60–61

THE SHORT VERSION

Jervis weighs the physical pleasure of templates against their occasional rules ambiguities. Replacing them with random hit counts proved clear but lost both positioning consequences and tactile appeal. The articulated Apocalypse Barrage marker revisits his favourite Thudd Gun design. For him, evocative equipment helps explain why miniature gaming feels different from more abstract forms of play.
