Kevin Chin describes using fiction and codex history as the foundation for illustrations. A scene of Imperial Fists and Ultramarines fighting Iron Warriors imagines an echo of the Iron Cage. Salamanders defending civilians express another Chapter’s ideals through pose and battlefield flames. Collaboration with writers helps those images add information rather than merely decorate the book.
