The Age of the Three Emperors
April 2012·pp. 70–71
THE SHORT VERSION
The Empire’s civil-war history begins with Mandred’s assassination and grows through rival claims, religious backing and the provinces’ resistance to submitting to one another. Stirland and Talabecland’s bitter struggle illustrates how court politics became generations of open warfare. The chronology ends with Asavar Kul’s invasion forcing cooperation and Magnus the Pious securing a renewed imperial crown, making external danger the catalyst for internal unity.
