Battlefield Challenges: The Fort
December 2009·pp. 92–93
THE SHORT VERSION
A small garrison holds a central stronghold while the attacker commits an army to capture it. The defender’s relief force arrives once an accumulating dice total reaches the required threshold. Only occupation of the fort determines victory, so casualties elsewhere are a distraction. Jervis explains how the same tactical problem works in both Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000.

The first-turn instruction on page 93 says “1–5 or more” for the attacker while also giving the defender the initiative on a 6. The wording is internally inconsistent.
