Blanchitsu: Craftsmanship and Painting Style
December 2009·pp. 73–75
THE SHORT VERSION
John describes modelling as a way to turn persistent imaginative ideas into physical objects. Skaven-derived mutants and Bloodletters illustrate the tangents those ideas can take. He explains a flexible painting sequence that combines neat detail with texture, washes and heavy weathering. A restrained final highlight and selectively glossy surfaces help create the worn character associated with his work.
