Water Effects

December 2005·pp. 140–141

THE SHORT VERSION

Steve Cumiskey demonstrates a water-based alternative to clear resin for scenery and miniature bases. A thin coat supplies shine to coastal terrain, while repeated shallow layers create depth in a fountain or enclosed pond. Depressions can be built into bases, and darker pond interiors imply wet ground beneath the clear surface. The workshop stresses letting each layer dry fully and keeping it only a few millimetres thick so the lower material can cure.
