Origins of the Grand Tournament

December 2005·p. 57

THE SHORT VERSION

Jervis Johnson remembers promoting the first Grand Tournament when a two-day Warhammer gathering was an unfamiliar proposition. Finding enough players, a venue and entirely new terrain demanded intensive work from a small volunteer team. The founding goal was a weekend among like-minded hobbyists, with painting and sporting behaviour considered alongside victories. He sees those priorities surviving even as the events expand to other countries and games.
