Owen Rees introduces himself as White Dwarf’s new editor, a Yorkshire hobbyist whose career has ranged from stores to the Studio and web team. His favourite armies connect long-standing Dark Angels enthusiasm with the Tahnelian Drop Troops he is currently expanding. He praises the sectional layout and practical hobby material established by his predecessors, and explains his own enjoyment of tournaments as social gatherings that generate new ideas.

Nine Black Templar Initiates infiltrate Eagle Demos to destroy two poisoned water tanks while preserving the pumping station serving the hives. Seven small Ork Brute squads and a power-claw Nob guard the objectives; the Templars receive distraction and camouflage equipment, while the Nob carries a doomsday device. Both tanks must be destroyed for a Templar victory, creating a race between a carefully concealed approach and the defender’s catastrophic demolition option.

Three optional tables relocate the pumping-station mission to hostile regions of Armageddon. Fire Wastes hazards interrupt movement or erupt beneath fighters, Deadlands conditions affect visibility and footing, and jungle sounds, predators and snapped twigs alter the infiltration battle. Rolling each turn makes the location an active influence on both forces. The printed crevasse result unusually removes a model after a passed armour save, a wording that players should resolve before use.
