Graham McNeill recommends concentrated Necron shooting while backing away, using different gauss weapons against broods and larger armoured targets. A Veil of Darkness or Monolith can extract units from combat and expose the attackers to fresh fire, with the portal also helping failed repair rolls. Pariahs or the Nightbringer provide counterattacks, while a Lightning Field offers a particularly unpleasant trap for numerous low-strength Gaunts.
