Painting Glade Guard

September 2005·p. 68

THE SHORT VERSION

Christian Byrne paints several archers together, staggering stages so drying time does not halt the work. Green and earth clothing, mixed flesh and yellow-brown hair receive a unifying Brown Ink wash before selected overbrushes and highlights restore their colour. The final skin uses the following page’s pale mixture, and a little yellow brightens the clothing edges. The demonstrated method aims for an attractive rank-and-file model in roughly ninety minutes.
