PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 309

Bows and Spear Shafts

September 2005·p. 65

THE SHORT VERSION

The guide proposes very light or very dark wood as a stronger counterpoint to clothing than a middle tone. Bright sapwood moves from Snakebite Leather through Bubonic Brown to Bleached Bone; dark stained wood starts Scorched Brown, receives Dark Flesh and finishes with a bone-and-Bestial Brown highlight. The two compact recipes can be applied consistently across bows and other wooden equipment.
